In short. Aura is a free, proximity-based social service personally operated by Francesco Vergani. You keep your rights in your content and remain responsible for it. Abuse and unlawful content are not tolerated. We may moderate, restrict or remove content and accounts, and you may request a review. Location features are not navigation or emergency tools.
1. Your agreement with Aura
These Terms govern the Aura app, APIs, theaura.space and the aura.spaces portal. They form an agreement between you and Francesco Vergani, an individual based in Cascina (Pisa), Italy, who personally operates Aura and not through a company (“Aura”, “I” or “we” for convenience).
When you create an account or enter the portal, you tick a box linking to the documents and accept the stated Terms version; you also acknowledge the Privacy Policy. Aura records the account or access key, document versions and time of acceptance. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use restricted areas. The Community Guidelines form part of these Terms.
Mandatory rights, including consumer rights, always remain unaffected. A person using aura.spaces for a venue acts for business or professional purposes unless they establish otherwise.
2. Eligibility
Aura is only for people aged 18 or over who can enter into this agreement. There is no parental-consent route. You may not use Aura while suspended, where prohibited by law, or for an organisation or venue you are not authorised to represent. Where reasonably necessary, we may request proportionate evidence of age, identity or authority without seeking unnecessary data.
3. Accounts, credentials and your responsibilities
Provide accurate information, keep your email current, secure passwords, devices and keys, and promptly report suspicious access to support@theaura.space. Do not sell, transfer or share an account or key with unauthorised people. You are responsible for activity through your credentials to the extent it results from your act or omission; you are not responsible for activity caused by a breach attributable to Aura.
Usernames and profiles must not mislead, impersonate or infringe rights. Do not use multiple accounts to evade restrictions, limits or blocks. We may reclaim or change a username where required for third-party rights, safety, impersonation or technical reasons.
4. Terms specific to aura.spaces
The portal is reserved for a venue owner or a genuinely authorised representative. By entering, you represent that you may act for the venue and grant the necessary rights in its name, marks, images and messages. The key operationally identifies the venue; anyone receiving it must be authorised and required to keep it confidential.
Portal access and submissions are free. Covers, photons, copy, dates and other proposals require Aura’s prior approval. They may be rejected, technically adapted, removed, rescheduled or not published for quality, safety, availability, relevance, third-party rights or rule compliance. Silence is not approval.
Aura does not guarantee publication, feed placement, views, attendance, sales, promotional results, territorial exclusivity or uninterrupted portal access. The venue remains responsible for offers, hours, prices, authorisations, taxes and public information. Nothing creates a partnership, agency, commercial representation or endorsement of the venue by Aura.
5. The service and availability
Aura may include nearby posts and photos, comments, votes and aura scores, anonymous text posts, aura.beam, aura.space rooms, photons, aura.link messages, notifications, private memories, saved items, reports and blocks. Availability depends on location, permissions, device, network, local participation and app version.
Scores, distance indicators, expiry and ranking are product signals—not currency, property, certification, advice or a promise of distribution. We may correct errors and manipulation. We may maintain or change the service for technical, legal, safety or development reasons. If a change materially and negatively affects a consumer’s use, we will provide the notice and remedies required by law. We do not promise uninterrupted availability of every feature.
6. Your content and licence
You retain ownership of content you create. You grant Aura a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, transferable only with operation of the service and sublicensable to necessary providers, to host, store, reproduce, convert, resize, transmit, display and distribute that content as needed to provide, protect, moderate and improve Aura, comply with law and enforce these Terms. The licence ends when content leaves active systems, except for temporary technical copies, content already shared by others and lawful retention for safety, disputes or legal duties.
Aura will not use your public content in advertising campaigns, press materials or social profiles outside Aura without separate permission. Ordinary previews, sharing and display within the service are not external promotion.
You represent that you have all required rights and permissions and that your content and instructions do not violate law, privacy, image rights, intellectual property, agreements or others’ rights. Anonymous posts hide the author from other users but remain linked to the account for safety, moderation and legal duties.
7. Conduct and prohibited uses
You must follow the Community Guidelines. Threats, harassment, hate, stalking, sexual exploitation, child sexual content, non-consensual intimate images, fraud, scams, unlawful or dangerous activity, doxxing, IP infringement, spam, impersonation and seriously offensive content are prohibited. False location, unauthorised bots or scraping, limit evasion, reverse engineering to the extent lawfully restrictable, interference with safety or availability, improper data collection, coordinated manipulation and using Aura to monitor or harm people are also prohibited.
8. Moderation, reports and review
Aura uses reports, technical limits, automated checks and human review. Text and images in public posts and avatars may be sent to OpenAI’s moderation service before publication. Its outputs are probabilistic, may be wrong or temporarily unavailable and do not replace human judgment. Comments, messages and other content are not necessarily reviewed before becoming visible.
Based on content, context, severity, risk, history and law, we may decline publication, remove or reduce visibility, preserve evidence, restrict features, warn, suspend or terminate accounts or keys, and notify authorities where necessary. We may act immediately for risk, manifestly unlawful content, serious abuse or compromised security. We do not guarantee detection or removal of every violation.
Report through available controls or email support@theaura.space with enough information to identify the item and issue. We provide reasons and appeal options when legally required. Affected users may request review at the same address; the decision will be reconsidered diligently and without automatic reliance, but no outcome or deadline is promised beyond legal requirements. Knowingly false or abusive reports may lead to action.
9. Location and real-world safety
Distances, boundaries, venue availability and location can be approximate, delayed or wrong. Aura is not a navigation, emergency, access-control or tracking tool. Do not use it while driving, trespass, enter dangerous areas or disregard venue rules and people nearby. A post, beam, photon or space does not guarantee that a place is safe, open, accessible or authorised. Contact local emergency services—not Aura—in an emergency.
10. Aura intellectual property
The app, software, interfaces, marks, logos, editorial text and Aura-provided material belong to Aura or its licensors. You receive a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the service under these Terms. You may not copy, sell, license or create competing derivative services using Aura elements except where law expressly permits it. Feedback may be used without payment or obligation, but never authorises processing inconsistent with the Privacy Policy.
To report copyright or trademark infringement, email support@theaura.space identifying the work or right, disputed item and location, contact details, reasons and a good-faith statement. We may forward essential details to the uploader as permitted by law.
11. Third-party services, content and links
Aura depends on operating systems, the App Store, maps, networks, Firebase, infrastructure and other services governed by their own terms. We do not control user, venue or third-party content, conduct or availability and do not contract on their behalf. Links or references are not endorsements. We remain responsible for matters the law assigns to Aura and for selecting and managing providers where applicable.
12. Suspension, termination and deletion
You may stop at any time and delete your account through Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion follows the periods and limits in the Privacy Policy. Removing the app does not delete the account.
We may restrict, suspend or terminate access and content for violations, risk to people or systems, legal duties, technical inactivity, discontinuation or inability to provide the service. Where reasonable and permitted, we will give notice and an opportunity to export data; this does not apply where it would compromise safety, investigations, others’ rights or legal duties. Provisions intended by nature to survive—including residual licences, liability, disputes and rights protection—remain effective.
13. Conformity and warranties
We will provide Aura with reasonably expected care and in accordance with mandatory digital-service guarantees. Consumers retain all statutory remedies for failure to supply or lack of conformity.
Subject to those rights, the free service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee error-free or uninterrupted operation, permanent content storage, user-content accuracy, claimed identities, compatibility with every device, social or commercial outcomes, or fitness for needs not agreed with us. Keep independent copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
14. Limits of liability
Nothing excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, attributable death or personal injury, data-protection duties and mandatory consumer rights.
To the extent permitted, Aura is liable only for direct, foreseeable and proven loss caused by a breach attributable to Aura. Aura is not responsible for user or venue conduct or content, real-world meetings, use contrary to warnings, third-party outages beyond Aura’s reasonable control, or loss caused by your failure to secure credentials. For consumers, loss is foreseeable when it was an obvious consequence or contemplated when the agreement was made; all mandatory remedies remain intact.
15. Business-user responsibility
This section applies only to people using aura.spaces or Aura professionally. To the extent permitted by law, Aura is not liable for lost profit, revenue, custom, business opportunity, reputation or data, or indirect or consequential loss. The venue will indemnify Aura against third-party claims, penalties and reasonable costs caused by its culpable breach, a false representation of authority, or content, offers and materials it supplies, except to the extent caused by Aura. This section does not apply to consumers.
16. Apple terms
If you obtain the app through the App Store, this agreement is between you and Aura, not Apple. Aura—not Apple—is responsible for the app, maintenance and support under these Terms and the law. Apple has no support obligation. If the app fails an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund any purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
Aura handles app-related claims, including product liability, legal compliance and IP claims. You must comply with App Store and relevant third-party terms. You represent that you are not located in a US-embargoed country and are not on a US restricted-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this section and may enforce it.
17. Governing law and disputes
Italian law governs these Terms. Consumers retain mandatory protections of their country of residence and any mandatory forum at their residence or domicile.
Before starting proceedings, each party is invited—without waiving rights or time limits—to describe the issue to support@theaura.space and seek a good-faith resolution. For business users, subject to mandatory jurisdiction, the courts of Pisa, Italy have exclusive jurisdiction. Any statutory ADR options remain available.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for service, safety, legal, provider or organisational changes. We will publish the version and effective date and give advance notice of material changes where required. We will request explicit acceptance again where a change affects the contract or user rights. No update applies retroactively to an existing dispute. If you disagree, you may stop using Aura and delete the account before the change takes effect.
19. General terms
If a term is invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited only as necessary and the rest remains effective. Failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without consent; Aura may transfer it with the service in accordance with law and the Privacy Policy, notifying users where required. Events outside reasonable control are not a breach for the duration and extent of the impediment, subject to reasonable mitigation.
These Terms, the Community Guidelines and expressly incorporated documents are the entire service agreement, without excluding statements or liability that law does not allow us to exclude. The Italian version prevails if a translation differs, subject to mandatory rights.
Specific approval for aura.spaces. A business venue operator separately approves, under Articles 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, clauses 4 (approval and no promotional guarantees), 12 (suspension and termination), 14 and 15 (liability and business indemnity), 17 (exclusive Pisa forum) and 18 (changes to the Terms).
